Versatile Veneers: The Perfect Coverup for a Wide Range of Dental Flaws

Versatile Veneers: The Perfect Coverup for a Wide Range of Dental Flaws

A beautiful smile can be a significant confidence booster, but when your teeth aren’t perfectly aligned and bright white, you can feel anything but confident when you face the world.

Well, good news: You have no shortage of options to add a little sparkle back to your smile. From teeth whitening to cosmetic bonding to complete smile makeovers, Dr. Ed Trizzino is an expert when it comes to fusing holistic dentistry and cosmetic dentistry.

If you want to address multiple aesthetic concerns at once, veneers might be your perfect coverup. Here at Smiles of Atlanta, Dr. Trizzino offers three types of veneers — chairside veneers, lumineers, and traditional veneers — to help you reach your aesthetic goals.

Here’s what you need to know about veneers and what they can do for you.

What are veneers?

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells that bond to the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. They’re designed to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth. That’s what makes them so versatile.

Chairside veneers are made of composite and require only one appointment. Dr. Trizzino sculpts the composite resin directly on your teeth without any need to remove your natural enamel.

Lumineers and porcelain veneers both require two appointments, removal of a tiny bit of enamel (to make room for your veneers), and impressions. Lumineers require less enamel removal, so it’s a less invasive procedure.

What types of dental flaws can veneers cover?

Regardless of the type of veneers you choose, the goal is to cover up multiple cosmetic concerns with a single treatment.

Your new veneers can:

Cover up stains

If you’re unhappy with the color of your teeth, you’re not alone. Stained teeth is one of the most common cosmetic complaints.

There are many reasons why your teeth may appear yellow. Age, genetics, medications, and certain foods and beverages are the top offenders. Smoking, chewing tobacco, and e-cigarettes (to a lesser extent) can also leave your teeth yellow or even brown.

Unfortunately, some stains just don’t respond well to teeth whitening treatments.

Veneers can cover any stains — even permanent stains caused by medications — because they simply cover your teeth. When designing your veneers, you and Dr. Trizzino can discuss the right shade for your new veneers.

Correct chips and cracks

Accidents or injuries can result in chips, cracks, or uneven edges on your teeth. Not only does this detract from your smile's aesthetics, but those chips can cut your lips or tongue. For this reason, if you chip or crack a tooth, don’t postpone treatment.

If you have a dental emergency (which includes cracked teeth), don’t hesitate to reach out to our team.

Veneers can conceal these imperfections, restore your tooth's shape and symmetry, and protect you from accidentally cutting your lips on a chipped corner of your teeth.

Hide small gaps and create the illusion of straight teeth

Veneers can often address minor alignment issues. Dr. Trizzino creates a straighter and more uniform smile sans metal braces.

Even if your teeth are straight — but you have a small gap — veneers can close it up.

Note: Severe malocclusion may require orthodontic treatment. During your consultation, Dr. Trizzino examines your mouth and determines if your gaps or alignment issues can be hidden with veneers.

Correct misshapen teeth

All aspects of your veneers are customizable, including their size and shape. If you have teeth that are too small, uneven, or misshapen, veneers can restore a more uniform look.

Create your dream smile with veneers

The bottom line: Veneers are custom-designed to improve the size, shape, and symmetry of your teeth — all of which helps to create a more aesthetically pleasing smile.
